What I've talking about is people who purchased a dongle and a license for the software the dongle stops working for whatever reason, and the User (customer) is expected to purchase not only a new dongle, but a new license. Yes, except I wouldn't have to re-purchase any software if the "dongle" went belly-up! If the hardware went on the fritz, I'd see if it was still under warranty. Isn't each device taking up a USB port essentially a "dongle" in this respect? We cannot risk our library sounding anything but optimal, we like them together. Plus the IR1 for instance will just cut it off after 6 seconds. Also our cathedrals ring on for 12 seconds. This is teh sound that leaves th rightmost speaker and hits the left microphone and vice versa. We convolve 'true' stereo which some processors do not do. This helps moving the source around on stage and enables individual gains. Our verb knows where the Early refs and the direct sound are in the files.
Plus they sound and work better in our verb. Look at them: they are our main investment.

Now can we hear some feedback on how the reverbs sound and what kind of resources does it use. After some horror stories I heard about how Amplitude 2 and Guitar Rig 2 ran on some peoples computers I definately wanted to try a demo before purchasing. Now I might have purchased Amplitude 2 if their demo didn't require a dongle. I have recently purchased Guitar Rig 2 to replace it.

I eventually gave up as I was starting to work on Sonar anyway and the Amplitude I had was a full version but RTAS only so would have been useless. I sent several emails back and forth with IK Multimedia tech support and I never got it to work. Now if my favorite plugins didn't have the ultimate dongle (UAD-1), I'd be even happier.Īs far as challenge/response for copy protection, I have a version of Amplitude that came with my 002 that when I upgraded to OS10.4 I couldn't get it to reauthorize. It was pretty easy to setup and if it fails, I still have copies of my old challenge and responses for my main computer so that I can work while I deal with tech support.
I can install my plugins on my 2 DAWs at work and on my computer at home and just plug my ilok into the computer that I am working on. If you insist on debating dongles, I have an ilok and it works great for me.
